Funny exhaust color

What does it mean when your car blows bluish/white smoke from the muffler?

It just means you're running a well broken in Chevy motor Unless it's a lot of smoke, then you might have a slight problem.

I just hope that it's not a well "broken" chevy motor. I've got a lot of problems going on with it, including a persistant oil leak from one of my valve covers, no matter how many times I change the gaskets, and tighten the bolts.

Unless the plugs are getting loaded up with oil don't worry too much about the occasional puff of bluish smoke. Normal for old Chevy motors to get a little "loosey goosey" up around the valve guides/seals. Constant smoke while idling or a big puff every time you pull away from a stoplight could signal more serious problems, however.

When you accelerate? Sounds like piston rings. If it smokes at startup, thats leaking valve seals.

Sh!tty day. Sounds like I may have some work ahead of me. It's not too bad, it just smokes real bad every time I take this steap hill, and accelerate up it. Any thoughts?
