how do you wire an electric fan to stay on at all times?
just turn the a/c on or the heater and it should come on.......i need a new fan switch in my car but i dont feel lke unbolting the starter and changing it right now so i just keep the a/c on.....
Remove the two-wire connector on the A/C pressure switch. This is ~18" behind the battery on the aluminum tubing running along the lower portion of the passenger side engine compartment.
Shorting these two wires together (use a paperclip if you have nothing else) will run the relay/fan as long as the ignition is "on".
No A/C? The same results can be achieved by shorting the green wire to the coolant fan switch to ground. This switch is btwn 6 and 8 cylinders in front of the starter.
FYI, running continuously is not necessary when the car is at speed, and will shorten the life of the fan motor, plus create more load to the engine (slightly) because the alternator will have to work harder. This also means less amperage to power other things, such as charging the battery. Just FYI.
EDIT:
If you just want them to turn on at a lower temperature, do what most of us do - change the coolant fan switch (see above) to turn on at a lower temperature. I got mine from Summit for ~$35. Turns on at 200°, off at 185°.
