car wont start
car wont start
Ok here is the whole sordid tale
Car (1990 Iroc 5.0) was sitting for one just around one year. Finally I moved it out of the garage and set her up road worthy again. Changed the plugs, charged the battery and checked the fuses. she started up and purred like a kitten.
Day one - took her out filled her with gas, got an oil change , went to work happy -
total distance about 30 miles
Went out and got new rims form the junk yard (from an Iroc vert, I mourned), since myine were banged up and I needed new tires anyway so I left the decent tires on the new rims.
Total drive time - another 15-20 miles
30 miles misc. travel in between.
I got home and changed the rims, then I went for a ride to make sure the tires didn't have a torn belt or anything. Driving fine for about 1 mile, then the engine just stopped dead in it tracks, I dropped it into nuetral and made it off the busy street onto a side a street.
I sat there for a few minutes - no change, I had a fuse tester with me, I checked and one of the fuses had blown ( don't rememebr which one this was a month ago, I don't think it was a needed one though, prob coincidence). After another 10 minutes it started - and went for about 100 feet and died again. Watited 20 minutes same thing. I ended up pushing it 4 blocks home and laughed at by a ***** on the way. THough I would rather push my car then drive his.
I changed the fuel pump, just in case, no change
Thought it was the VATS, removed the fuse for vats and it doesn't start to urn over at all. The security light comes on then kicks off. So the vats has been cleared. The car acts like it wants to turn over but doesn't want to do the last step and turn over itself.
Also , yes the fuel pump kicks in
What am I missing or any ideas?
