Need help with dampner bolt

I am a fool and messed up the 1st 2 or 3 threads on my crank (balancer bolt) I don't think it is major but I wanted to ask for help before trying a thread chaser. Any suggestions?

If it's just the first couple of threads you might be able to clean it up carefully with a tap. Just try not to do whatever you were doing to strip them again.
