starting problem

When I go to start my 87 T/A LG4 every once in a while it doesnt even click turn over anything. so i have to drop it into Neutral then i fires like brand new. Most of the time it does it fine in park, but there are the times it wont and i have to pull it into Neutral.. So whats the deaL

I believe there is sensor that only allows the starter to turn when in Neutral or Park.. it could be malfunctioning.

Yeah, thats what i was thinking. Maybe it isnt ingaging in Park sometimes... I wonder how to fix it?

You can buy a new Park/Nuetral safety switch from the dealer.
