Engine startup...
I was just curious what opinions people have on starting an engine that has been sitting for awhile. I have a complete engine with 30,000 miles on it out of a 92 that I just bought and I plan on swaping it in. I am unsure as to how long it has been sitting out of the vehicle. I think that it doesn't have much oil in it. I know I should change oil, filter, plugs, cap, rotor, etc... but is there anything I should do to the engine before startup? I know how a sitting engine isn't always the greatest thing for them. Thanks for any replies...

since you already have it out, swap any intake, heads, cams, etc, etc, etc before you put it in... make it easier on yourself
I'd pop open the valve covers, roll all of the pushrods to make sure none are bent (would be very sucky to find that out once you put it IN the car and try running it, eh?) since you'll want to reset the valve lash anyways just for the heck of it
Then get new valve cover gaskets, and run with it after you put in new oil and filter!
