Fuel line question

........I pulled my carb off to rebuild it and before I put it back on I need to replace the nut on the fuel line as its rounded off. Is taking the line off at the pump recommended or can it be done on the car? Also if I take it off will gas leak out the pump? It has a full tank. [ block pump ] Thanks........Zapr.

It's best to take the line off of the car because you need to cut off the original flare on the line in order to get the nut off, and reflare the line after getting the new nut on. You should blow out the line before hooking it to the carb.

You might get some fuel out of the pump outlet when the line is off. Plug it if necessary.
