Car having trouble starting....Im sure many people have had this prob

Ok, here whats been going on for about a year now. I guess thats a long time but I dont drive my Camaro much so it hasn't bothered me that much until now. When I go to start the car all I get is a click sound from the engine compartment. The car still starts but I have to keep on turning the key. Something like: click, click, click, click, click, click, stop to rest my hand, click, click, click, click, start. Sometimes it starts right off on the first try. Most of the time (70%) it wont. Sometimes (2%) I dont even get the click sound. When that happens I usually have to let the car sit for a while before I can even try to start it. Any thoughts?

I had this behavior about 6 months ago. It ultimately turned out to be a bad starter. However, I managed to fry the battery with the bad starter and first replaced the battery. Since the new battery was harder to fry, the problem appeared to go away after I put the new battery in the car. However, the car eventually went back to click-click-click and the starter worked less and less often...

I'd check the starter.

I'm not sure if our cars have starter solenoids (either separate from or attached to the starter), but I'll bet the problem is one of the two.

Just to make sure, have your battery tested.

Starter Solenoid, gauranteed.

Mine had the same problem and a new starter (the solenoid is separate) fixed the problem. Don't forget to take your starter in to forego the core charge.
