oil dipstick..

oil dipstick..

Where does it go into the block? above the starter? beside? I can't seem to find the hole.

It right above the oil pan by the starter.

Axle/Gears: Ford 9"/31 spline spool/4.86
Depends on what year the block is. Dipsticks up to 1979 are on the left hand side (drivers). All SBC blocks from 1980 to present are on the right side (by the starter). There's a small hole in the block. The tube is pressed into the hole. Hammer and a screwdriver usually work well for installing the tube.

I took the starter out and I can see the hole, I cant twist the dipstick in though.. I've got it in a vice right now because it wasn't straight enough, thanks.
