my new project 355

im not too happy with the cyl walls, but i THINK they will be ok if i punch it out .030, eh?
aside from that motor is pretty clean, not all gunekd up, etc
specs:
truck block 74/75? 1/2 ton - 3/4 ton pickup
probably 4 bolt
333882 heads
3970010 block
uhm...
yea, what would you recommend for a "budget" 355?
my goal is for at least 350hp, with that i will be happy
what kind of cam do you recommend? carb? heads? intake? etc etc?
btw i paid 100 bucks for it, fuel pump , water pump, quadrajet carb, intake, heads, damn near complete engine. lol
appreciate it.

port, polish and maybe shave those 882 heads and you'll have some pretty good flowing heads. that's what i'm running on my 355 and they are decent.
i'd pick out a nice 500+ lift roller cam, some 1.6 roller rockers, upgraded valve springs. get some decent pistons, an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold and a 750 carb.. good headers and exhaust and you should be 350 or more HP...
that block is in dier need of bead blasting and hot tanking.. i'd be afraid of the rust in the coolant passages...

just my .02¢

bead blasting/sand blasting will make it pretty of course
i wish i had access to a sand blaster when i built mine.. i would have cleaned it up alot better.. and maybe powder coated the block
over the years the cheap paint i used is all coming off
