Fuel Pump Leaking Oil? HELP!!
Car-1982 Trans Am
Engine-Stock 305 LG4, mechanical fuel pump
I drove my car around the small circle on my road about 10 times; I was turning left, so the oil was being pushed to the passenger side. When I drove the car on ramps a few minutes later, oil is dripping from the fuel pump. It went away after 5 minutes. Is this a common problem?
I noticed a bit of oil on the front most passenger side spark plug, but there wasn't any oil on the electrode.

My smog pump is frozen, so I took it out some time ago. Otherwise, this wouldn't be fun at all.
The new fuel pump is in, had a small fuel leak that I fixed with another hose clamp. Now I hear a lifter ticking, so I'm off to look at that.

Yea, but there is still some sheet metal piece that also acts as a spacer for the alternator, I just left that on.

So, is there a bolt in the upper bolt hole for the smog pump bracket? I'm guessing not.
Look in that hole. You'll be staring at the fuel pump rod. If you didn't have a fuel pump rod in there, you would actually be able to see the crank through that hole in some blocks.
Put a SHORT bolt in that upper hole with some silicone on the threads.
That's your oil leak, not the fuel pump..... a direct communication between the crankcase and the outside world.

Well, I just replaced the fuel pump and I don't have a leak anymore. So this hole is right above the fuel pump rod? I'll go take a look.
