Today i checked the fluid in my 84 T-5 transmssion... took off the drain plug, followed by the fill plug... nothing came out - NOTHING.
How could this be, how did the tranny work? I bought the car 3000 miles ago so thats at least 3k with no oil.
I filled it up and it took all 3.5 quarts.

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Ouch. Be expecting to rebuild it soon. They don't take well to running dry.
Is there any sign of where the fluid was leaking out of?
Rear seal on the driveshaft yoke? <-this is the best scenario as it would be just the seal.
Front near the bellhousing? <- this is the worst scenario as the case has already stretched...
3.5 quarts? It should only have taken a bit over 2½ if empty. Unless you just had the front end up in the air on jackstands...
