radiator hose busted

today i was at work and someone came and told me that my radiator fluid was all over the parking lot. i went out there there was fluid everywhere, i found out that the hose coming off the top of the radiator had busted. i replaced it and refilled the radiator with fluid, just wonderin if anyone has any idea of why it would do this and what i need to check, the car wasnt overheating prior to this,

Same thing happenned to me last year. Only I wasn't sure it was the hose until I got home, filling it up with h20 every 10 miles or so. No reason other than age for my hose to burst. It was the same hose that was on when I bought the car. I replaced the bottom hose too, just for that happy secure feeling.

If your hoses are old (like more than 5 years) I would replace them. Cheap.

I have driving liek normal a while back about 2 weeks after i got the car and i had the same problem. It looked like someone had gone under the hose and cut it with a knife, this still bothers me, i have no idea what would cause a slit like that.

What happened....... Poor routine maintenance, plain and simple. Better to pay a little now than a whole lot later.

actually i think what happened is somoene must have hit my switch for my fans and the car overheated and i didnt know it. one of my managers told me that he did see a lil smoke comin out from under the hood. right now i got the switch for the fans inside my center console and i think someone put somethin in the console and hit the switch and since the switch is in there i didnt even pay attention to it till after i put the new hose on and i noticed that the fans werent turnin

I had a similar problem once about 2 months ago. My upper radiator hose was cut by my serpentine belt. The bracket that holds the hose away from the belt came loose and allowed my hose to come in contact with the belt. New hose and a tighten on the bolt fixed it.
