carpet is soaked with antifreeze, help
Is this a bad heater core? The carpet is completely soaked when I got home. Inside the engine bay is dry. Under the car is dry. How hard is it to replace? What is a decent price? Need help immediately please. I have to start school in two days.

If the water is on the pass side then it sounds like the heater core to me.
Depending on what's wrong with it you might be able to take it to a radiator shop and have them do some brass welding on it.
As for the price of a new one??
Good question.
One temp fix you could do.
Follow the hoses to where they meet at the fire wall.
Remove both hoses from the fittings.
Get a piece of metal pipe and connect to both hoses creating a loop. This will bypass your heater core until you can get it repaired.
As for repairs.
Get a haynes book at autozone or another ap store. The removal and installation is on page 129.

Thank you. I completely forgot about bypassing it. Its mostly on the passenger side, but theres some on the driver side too. Thanks much.

No thanks needed, but it's appreciated.
Also, if you bypass the heater core and you get no more water inside the car them you know what the problem is.
It's worth the time and $1.00 for the 1/2" (I think)pipe to get you back on the road.
Just remember to fix it before it gets cold!

Heater core is $20-30... takes a couple of hours to replace, it's easiest if you take the dash pad off and the right side of the dash loose because that way you can get to all the hardware and the core will just slip right out and back in.
