Heys guys,

My neighbor just gave me a Prom from a 1986 Vette.

anyway, my car which Had a LB9 5.0L was taken out and fed to the dogs. My new setup .. a MAF L98 backed by a 700r4.
will this 86 MAF vette prom work with a 1989 TPI car?

I was intending to run my 350 with the 5.0 PROM,
instead I could pop the 86 vette prom in that is already dialed in for an L98.

I was told using the 5.0 prom would still run, but who knows how well it would run.
my guess is it would probally be tempermental

 

Your current prom will work if you keep the same injectors. The fueling isnt based on anything relating to displacement so you dont have to worry about that like you do with SD. You could try the 86 one if you want to, assuming the hardware was the same between the two ecms. It may not work as well as the vette probably had different injectors (22 pph?).

 

you are correct, I am using the stock injectors that came
with the LB9. (for now)

the 86 chip is obviously tuned for a L98 350 corvette,
so I think it would tamper with the lb9 injectors a bit.

what size injectors would you suggest to use with the Vette PROM? just some slightly larger than the ones I own?

If its a bone stock L98, then whatever injectors they came with is what Id use and run an L98 prom along with them. If you plan on modding, then going larger isnt a bad idea.
