I have a 342 open rearend and have access to a 273 posi unit. Can I take the posi out of the 273 rear and install into my 342 rear? Thanks in advance for the help!

 

3.42 is a 3 series and 2.73 is a 2 series. You can't interchange carriers with the stock gears.

You will also need to verify number of splines on axle. 89 older had 26 spline axles and 90+ were 28 spline.
