How good are E-Tec Heads

Are E-Tec 170 heads worth the money over iron vortecs. The flow numbers are better but they are 500+ each as opposed to 300 for modded vortecs.
I want 350-400 fwhp with comp xr270 cam.

What amazed me is that they all pretty much made within 8 horsepower of each other.

True. The one thing to keep in mind though was because they were running so much compression on iron heads they used a slow timing curve in the dist to keep detonation down.

Had they taken advantage of the fact that the E-Techs are aluminum and recurved the dist, they'd have easily found more power and torque throughout the entire RPM range.

One head I was disappointed they didn't test was the Pro Toplines Vortec style heads. That would have been interesting to see.

Oh well. Perhaps I'll email them and tell them they forgot to include "Every Street-Style Vortec Head You Can Buy".
