Please read. oil psi guage accurate above 60

i was hoping one of you other 3rd gen-ers new about this. ive got a 89 rs 305. 'Please Read'. thank you.

i was wondering if my 0- to 30- to 60- psi oil guage is accurate past 60psi?

i noticed that the gap from 0 to 30 was the same size as 30 to 60. so does anyone know if it would be the same from 60 to 90?

i could get a external guage and hook it up and see if the two guages match up above 60psi, but it would take a while to get it, and i was hoping i would be lucky enough to get a reply.

if i knew where to mark it, i would like to take the cover off of my guages and mark where 75 and 90 are.

if you want the whole story read below.
--------------------------------------------------------------

i was losing oil pressure severely. around 30psi at about 1500rpm and 0psi or near 0psi at idle. i just finished putting in a high volume pump (purple spring), and some high mileage 30W with lucas additive. to say the least i have good pressure now. i was getting about 60psi at idle a few minutes ago cold. i didnt get it warm though, because i still have my y-pipe off and the parents go to bed early. and i didnt want to **** them off and have to hear-->(& ) in the morning. lol. thank you again.

I would honestly get a manual gauge and check it that way. The factory electric gauges hardly ever read accurately. They are slightly better than an idiot light though
Let us know how the pressure looks after engine is up to operating temp.

sry that it took so long to reply. but a little update... pressure seems to be doing good. about 60 psi at most rpm's. but every now and then it will bounce up and down from 60 to 30 to 60... usually under 1500 rpms. if im at cruising speed its steady at 60+. i havent hook up a manual tester to check psi's at high rpm's, though.

the only problem im having now is on start up. its smoking a lot more than usual. ive only put about a pint in it during the last 2 weeks. so im not too worried yet.

hopefully itll keep me goin til i can afford a long block.
