1984 Trans Am 305 V8
Today I gave the car some gas to pass someone and the cars tachometer went nuts... It jumped up and down and the car surged. You know when you give it gas and it goes, slows, goes slows, kinda like that. Well the engine light comes on and the car stalls. I didn't want to start right back up, but eventually it did. Anyway long story short what could this be and how do i check the trouble codes on this particular year? I tried to follow previous articles to no success. I heard it could be the throttle position sensor, but who knows.
