Heater Tubes/core (Guide/Sticky Please)

I have no heat comming from my vents and I'd like to clean/blow out the heater tubes/core, but I'm not sure exactly what/how to do it...there might also be a vavle that is/isn't opening that i can play with....is there a/can anyone write up a "sticky" to deal with this situation...it's a very common problem with cars that might be a relatively simple fix (DIY) that wouldn't require any special tools...any advice/info?...are there any guides on how to solve the "no heat" problem? Thanks

UPDATE: I found that valve that the heater/radiator tubes run through and it was closed....I opened it up and now I'm getting some heat from the vents...i still wonder if the core should be flushed...

I don't think flushing would get ya much, coolant circultes when in use...effectilvely flushing it.
