Cooling Fan Not Working, HELP!!
Cooling Fan Not Working, HELP!!
My fan isn't working on my 83 305 4bbl. Okay so far I've checked for power at the relay, it's there. Then I jumped a wire from the power to the wire that goes to the fan. Power is then found there. So power is getting to the fan but it is not turning on as I expected when I do this. Where does the other wire that comes out of my fan go. The one is obviously power that other one I suspect is ground. So my thought is that the wire is not grounding. What am I doing wrong, or what should I do to get the fan to work.
I checked the motor by wiring it to the battery directly, the fan comes on then. In all, I believe I have bypassed both the switch and the relay, I may be wrong.
Please, Help

Turn the A/C on, and the fan should come on.
Pull the wire out of the switch on the pass side cyl. head and ground it with the key on, and the fan should come on.
Probably melted switch or connector. Get a replacement switch that comes on earlier if it is damaged.

Okay, I don't have AC and it has worked since I removed so I can't do that, thanks for the suggestion though.
I used my multimeter to see if the other wire from the fan connection was creating a good ground. I jumper the relay connector so I was getting power to the fan connector, then I checked it with my multimeter to make sure I was getting power, I was. Then I tried to use the other wire in the connector as a ground, because that's what I suspect it to be and came up with a very low voltage reading. I suspect now that this wire is not being grounded and that is the problem. Can anyone verify this for me? If that does seem correct can someone tell me where that wire goes?

Buy an on/off switch and some wire. Connect one wire from the switch to a power source, and the other to the power wire that connects into the fan. That way you control when you want the fan on. Ive done that on all my Camaros
