Ok, along with my other post, i am trying to make a bad a$$ street car, but I still want to drive it all over the place, I don't care about gas miliage, but just don't want to tear the engine up.
I have a 355 engine with 305 cirlce track heads (anything you can do to a head, its done on this) 1.6 self aligning rockers, probably around a 510 lift cam, 2500 stall converter, Holley electric fuel pump, no emissions, rpm intake and 750 holley carb, and flattop pistons.
3 inch exhaust and a turbo 350 with a B&M shift kit, and the richmond 3.73 gears combined with the engine is what I wondering how streetable this car is going to be.
Please reply if you have the similiar setup or you can help at all.
------------------
Under Restoration:
1989 Camaro RS
350 Carbed engine
Turbo 350 tranny
3.73 gear
and other stuff
Daily Driver (till Camaro is done)
1972 Pontiac LeMans 2Door
350 V-8
Turbo 350 tranny
red with tan top

What kind of 305 heads are they? 58cc? What kind of compression does this have? Shouldnt be too bad for street...definetly not something I would want to drive through traffic in, that cam seems pretty big. (pretty high lift with 1.6 rockers) 3.73s arent too bad on the street. With that combo running I wouldnt want to find you next to me at a stoplight
Good luck
Good luckI have the same setup
!
But Ive prety much designated it as my track car.
355 flat tops 58cc heads comp 270H stealth intake 670SAvenger 1.6 RR. Almost the same as you except 1800 stall with a turbo 400. I had 3:73's but it was to squirly so I droped to 3:42's.
My car was my daily driver and it got fair milage around 18 before the comp cam, 1.6 RR and SA 670 so I would say its very streetable but you will be buying premium fuel "alot of it". Funny just buy the mods, cam, RR and SA the milage droped to 10mpg but hey its runs low 13's in high altitude.

It'll still ride good if you haven't touched the suspension, but that engine is going to vibrate the whole car just from the power output. It'll be obnoxiouly loud too. You'll get tired of it. I thought that a daily driver like that would be fun, but it ain't. As long as your not going real far it's a fun ride. If you have to go more than 100 mi. It's going to wear you out. When I get out of my car my feet are numb, my head hurts, and my ears are ringing a little. I'm basically wore out. That's after a 220 mile trip to school. This '89 is going to have a stiffer suspension so I can just imagine what that's going to be like. It's all a matter of taste. You were probably more interested in if the engine will live though. If you keep up the maintenence and tuning then it should live forever. If you don't stay on top of it and drive it hard don't expect it to last real long. Those Holley's require constant attention. I'm assuming hyd. lifters, so lashing them every weekend won't be necessary. With that cam and rockers look for valve springs to wear quickly. You basically are going to have a race engine on the street, expect it to behave like it.

Ok, thanks. It sounds like noise would be the only problem then. I want a daily driven car that still has power, i can't drive a civic around, while I make a hot rod out of my 72 pontiac
