Will a Camaro rear end fit in a Monte Carlo???

I've got a rear end from an 85 IROC that my friend wants. He has an 87 Monte Carlo SS. I haven't looked under his car yet, but I've been told the Monte Carlos have upper control arms, so it wouldn't work anyways. Any truth to this? Thanks.

That is correct. They are both 7½" rears, so the internals are the same, but the housings are all kinds of different. They will not interchange.
