oiling modifications

just wondering if anyone else has done several oiling upgrades to their small block chevy and if so could I see them. I built this engine and it has about 40 psi at idle and 60 at cruise. It took so much crap to get it to that pressure but I wanted it high so I could feed the main tube over to the front main bearing so that way I would have perfect oiling always. the machinest told me the block is damn near bulletproof as far as never being starved.

Super high oil pressure is not always a good thing. With that high of pressure you can blow seals and wear out your oil pump in no time. You are also putting a huge strain on the distributor gear, camshaft gear, oil pump driveshaft. Something is bound to break.

Edit:
You edited your post, you originally said it had 115 PSI at idle; now you say it has 40 PSI? If it is 40 PSI at idle then ignore what I said. My post was in response to you saying it had 115 PSI at idle.

thats why things like that have been addressed. Hardened dis. drive and cam gear as well as steel oil pump shaft from arp. Also has oil restrictors. after firing it up suposedly the increased pressure all went up to the tube anyways and this is only the pressure in the bottom end. The accual gauge pressure is about 60 psi or so. I will get more photos up l8ter tonight. I was told by the machinist I would get this pressure but now that I have ran the engine I think it is acually more like 60.

Here is more photos

originally the machinist told me I would have that kind of pressure but I thought that would be to much....... after I was thru with the mods he said that I would have higher oil pressure to the main bearing but not as much of a load to other thing (cam, ect.) since the tube will take the brunt of the pressure and feed it into the main bearings. Supposedly the front main bearings are the first to fail in all the bearings of a stroker engine. My nitroused 355 failed due to bearing failure and I wanted to makesure that I never had oiling problems again.

thanks for checkin out and postin 89 iroc z
