window making noise
window making noise
i replaced the window regulator motor on the driver's side a few days ago. When I drilled out the rivits, I didn't secure the regulator. When I reassembled it, I think I put almost a complete turn on the spring. The window worked decently for a few days but now when it rolls down, it makes a lot of noise going all the way down. I'm guessing it's binding and releasing. When I pull up on the window, it behaves like it should. Did I not put enough tension on the spring?
I know that one of the rollers on the regulator was very difficult to move, but i greased it and all the tracks.
any thoughts on the problem?
thanks

if anybody cares...
what i managed to find out after futzing with it most of the day is that i only put a half revolution's worth of tension on the spring. also whenever the spring is on the regulator, i.e. causing a load on the motor, the motor turns to crap. I can run the motor in the regulator with out the tension spring and it'll be just fine. as soon as the spring is on, the motor will chatter (the best way i can describe it). i'll have to keep digging to see what's going on.

Any chance the motor is going out?
I'm stupid
i had forgotten the lessons of my physics 101 class. I was testing the motor in the regulator with the spring in my lap. In this scenario, the spring is putting too much of a load on the motor and not doing its intended job of counteracting the load the glass would place on the motor had it been hooked up. With everything in place, in the door, the motor behaves as it should.
incidentally, when i originally replaced the motor, i had put the tension spring on backwards.
that could've saved me a lot of headaches.
in case anyone was wondering
