car smells gassy

I recently added headers to my 88 305 firebird and since then, it has smelled gasy when I drive. Could I change my timing to solve this problem?

Timing will fix alot of things (and what timing won't fix, no doubt the EGR will) but it won't fix exhaust leaks!

Most likely you need new gaskets where they bolt to the heads, that seems to be the universal hassle with headers.
