Starter heat soak.

I have problems starting my car when its been driven for a little while and its worse on hot days. I'm aware that this is dew to my larger headers overheating the starter. I bought a Moroso heat shield which is just an aluminum cover. I was wondering if anyone has tried one and how they work. I'm also going to through a high torque starter on just to be safe.

This might sound silly - but check both of your battery cables and make sure they're not corroded. I had just put on headers and kept thinking it was heat soak. I replaced my positive cable and voila.

Went through the same problem with heat soak
after header install, went with a mini high torque starter and that was the solution.
Everything worked find after that even in the hottest weather.

I had an even worse problem than heat soak.... in the form of a 10½:1 400.... I also did the mini-starter thing. It is so completely different than the stock garbage, I kick myself every time I think about all the years I struggled with the little weenie stock crap, while I could have fixed it so easily for $150 and a half-hour of work. It spins the motor better than the best that the stock one ever did, about twice as fast even as a brand new stock one could spin a room-temperature 305.
