Starting Nightmare

Well here goes, Problem started about a year ago, 1986 with a 2.8L . It was stalling but only during the heat of the day, shut down simular to a vaporlock but refused to start again untill it cooled off (outside tempature as well as the engin). Turned but never started. In the winter months it ran and started fine. have tried many many things and problem has now changed. Now it starts when it is cold and seems to run fine (hasn't eyt stalled in the heat of the day but maybe it just hasn't been hot enought outside yet), but now it won't restart for at least an hour after I shut it down. Attempts at fixing are as follows, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new coil, rotor, cap, wires, plugs, control module, Throttle position switch, Ignition switch, Battery, Had alternater tested and have run out of ideas. I have been trying about anything I can think of. This is a multiport injection system and I am afraid I know very little about them. Have been getting most of my info from other forums and was just tonight directed that here I may find the help I need. Was wondering if maybe the fuel pressure vaule in the fuel rail might be the problem (another suggestion made to me), This is a part of the fuel rail and must be replaced with the rail (Or so I was told). also was told maybe the cold start switch but cold doesn't seem to be the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have an attachment to this car in a way that I just can't seem to give up on her. Please help. Thanks for any advice or direction.

have you done any trouble shooting when it doesn't start? does it have spark? does it have A/F mixture? i'd guess the compression doesn't change. that's all you need for it to start. check the basics like "is there fuel" if so check voulmn and pressure. do all the injectors get power ,are all the injecters good?
