Hydraulic Roller Cam Conversion
What do I need to do to put a hydraulic roller cam in my '84 Trans Am? It's got a standard 305 LG4 engine with what I think is a standard cam with flat tappet lifters. Someone told me I need a 'spider' and even though it's embarassing, I don't know WTF he's talking about. Can someone tell me what's going on?

Just to make you feel a little better, he doesnt know WTF he is talking about either
Spider wont work on a non-roller cam block.
What you need is a retrofit setup as they call it now, or more accurately you need roller lifters that come with link bars to prevent them from turning. And then you need a cam button to keep the cam from moving forward. And also you need a different distributor gear. And then of course you need the roller cam too. It will cost more than its worth if you are just switching to save the friction.

Do a search... this question gets asked in one form or another about every 2 days... I've answered it so many times, I don't feel like typing in the same thing any more.

basically you can't. buy a block made for the hyrdolic roller or buy an aftermarket roller cam set up
