i have a 91 z28 with a 350. i just did a tune-up cap and rotor and flamethrower ignition module. and i hook it a up the distrubuter was loosend and was adjusting something. if turn to far one way would die. i tried to get it a smooth as possible but after warmup the idle drops to 500 and will occasionly drop to 400 and seem like it almost wants to die. i tried crankin up the screw on the throttle body but didn't seem to help. i thought the timing was electronicly controolled or does the distrubter adjustment have to do with this. any help would be appericated.

 

The ECM will add timing to whatever you set the base to. You need a timing light and you have to set the base timing. I would put any idle adjustments back to where you had them and set the timing correctly. Do you have extensive mods to your engine? If so it may be time for chip work.

 

You need to disconnect the tan wire up by the passanger side firewall, then set the timing to somewhere between 5-7 degrees. Turn off the car, connect the tan wire, and you should be set. If it idles bad after this, you may have a bad IAC valve.

 

took my car to the dealer and was at 10 adv. set to 6. it runs better . im worried about my air fuel guage. iused to get a light show out of it and now 90% the time it doesnt show a reading. but at wot i get goog reading. im i just burning all the fuel in the chambers now or im i lean?

 

problem fixed i had a 7 ft vacuum hose that was rotted. runs like a champ and air fuel mix is back were its supposed to be. car idles at 500 and stays. so nice to have my car back. thanx everyone for the help.
