Electric fan swap

Is it worth converting to electric cooling fans? I'd like to get better cooling in the city on hot days so I can use my AC consistantly.

I just did it and I would say yes, yes, YES! Putting in an electric fan dropped my city driving engine temps by a solid 30* F. Granted my clutch fan wasn't working properly but the electric fan is SO much better controlled. I used a Lincoln Mark VIII fan I grabbed from Pick 'n Pull for 5 bucks. It is a two speed fan and the shroud it comes with works well (not perfect) with our radiator. I used a 180 sensor in the water neck, and a 220 sensor in the right cyl head. The 220 one has not came on yet. The engine won't got above 190! I wired each sensor to it's own relay, and it works beutifully. A good, cheap mod.

I have an electric fan, and it's great, except that it decides to have electrical problems every once in awhile(shorted wires, motor went bad...) But if you get an aftermarket one you should be very happy with it.

So, you use a 180 sensor for the low speed and 220 for the high speed? Can you use a set up from a later model Firebird/camaro?

yes you can use a later model camaro/firebird dual fan setup, if that's what your asking. just make sure to get the lower and upper brackets and bolts.
