I think my firing order is messed up on my LG4. I've heard this is how it's supposed to be?

 

But my order is like this. The car ran FINE like this though Yes I know the wires run to the wrong spot on the distributor, but on the car they don't :P I just wanted to get a sketch for you guys.

I am also working with valve lash. So I go to tighten down valves on cylindar #1 but wait; that isen't the right cylindar #1... according to the "correct wiring" I am tightening down valves on cylindar #2. You see what I'm saying? By changing the wires, it moves the cylindar "numbers" around right?

 

I don't think it matters as long as the sequence is fine. You can rectify it if you really want to, it's busy work to be honest. Find TDC, pull the dist and restab it so that the dist terminals are straight back and the rotor rotated to point where you want. I bet someone pulled the dist for a cam or something and stabbed it cockneyed and it didn't start and found he/she couldn't rotate the dist enough to compensate so he/she shifted the wires.

 

It makes no difference where the cap is pointed, or what terminals the wires are on as long as the order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in clockwise order. If it won't fire then the distributor is off and you can do the TDC method to get the cap to close to a desired location, or actually take and turn the cap until it fires...
