Could this be a dying fuel pump???

i was on the interstate and my 350tpi iroc started feeling like it was running out of gas,(it was half full), the engine would not accelerate at all. If i got on it,the engine just bogged. it felt like it had no power, no matter how much i pushed the pedal. at every stoplight it wanted to die, but i nursed the gas so it wouldnt. I got it home and checked the fuel pressure. It wouldnt idle so i had to get it up to 1500 rpm and the pressure was at 20psi. When i let off the gas and it is about to die it goes up to 40psi but it will not stay running. My afpr was originally set at 37 with vacuum line connected. Does this mean dying pump? Car has complete tune up, including brand new plugs/wires. Help me please

Possibly, but try the fuel filter first... if that doesn't fix it, then I believe you'll be dropping the gas tank.

how about the oxygen sensor...those things screw with everything. it might be faulty and putting you in "limp home mode".

If its a TPI, just check the fuel pressure at the fuel rails or wherever your check valve is.

If the pressure reading is low, then look at the filter and pump. If its high, check your FPR and return line for clogs.

Hope this helps
