A few questions about used camshafts...
A few questions about used camshafts...
I'm about to buy an LT1 cam from a camaro that had 60000 miles on it..
Do used cams need to be broken in still (i'm guessing yes, because they are new to the engine)..
Do used cams need to be degreed like new cams do? (I'm guessing no..)
And one more question, how much would a shop charge to change valve springs to high-perf. ones??
Thanks!

Roller cams dont need to be broken in even if they are new, so you dont need to break it in.
The cam being used doesnt have much to do with degreeing it, so you would do that regardless of whether it was new or not. I dont think you need to do it with that cam however unless you feel a sudden urge to degree it.
I dunno how much a shop would charge to change the springs (on or off the car?) but its not going to be cheap if you are having it done on the car.
