305 Ignition problems
305 Ignition problems
Were to I start, Lately for the past 20,000 miles on my 305 I've been having some really weird ignition problems. To start things off it takes liek 3 times to start it up. Once started it runs pretty good. The problem is when i go to shut it off. When i turn the ignition off it continues to run ( diesling??) then after anywhere from 1-3 min of running by itself it kills. Well when I go to start it up again it blows smoke out. Smells and looks like it ran rich. The engine is a goodwrench 305 that just hit 95,000 miles on it and has had this problem for a while. Have had the HEI coil replaced once or twice and the car started and killed fine, then after a while the problems seemed to start again. Has a new coil, HEI rotor, cap, plugs and wires. Also had the CC carb rebuilt recently but was having the problems before this. Really need to get this problem taken care of. Also to add to this,
the EGR vacuum selinoid is unplugged but when plugged back in run horribly with a rough idle, also when the MAP sensor is unplugged it runs like its brand new. Please guys give me some suggestions, Hotter coil, control module ?
