TBI to Carb Question

I'm swapping from TBI to carb in an 88 Camaro. Can I use a dead-head regulator or do I have to use a bypass style. I know the article on this site says to use a bypass style regulator, but I assumed that was for the high pressure TPI system. Thoughts?

I was counting on having to use a bypass style, but other pumps, for example the Holley Blue pump, use a deadhead style regulator. I am hoping to find out whether or not I can set mine up similarly.
