I have an 89 Firebird Formula and the service engine soon indicator came on just recently. What usually causes this to come on? Could it be anything major? Thanks a lot!

I fixed the problem. I disconnected the battery for a couple minutes, and the lights went off, so thats good!

you probably didnt fix the problem you just cleared the stored codes once the car does what ever is not working it will trigger the code

 

When the SES light appears again, check the codes using a jumper of some kind (hairpin's, wires). You can read how to do it in the FAQ section of the thirdgen.org home page at the bottom. If u need more help let me know.
