mechanical woes
Over a year ago I installed an edelbrock performer RPM power package on my 84 camaro Z28 HO. I put in a cam, lifters, intake manifold, and 650 cfm carb. I also put on a set of non egr headers and rebuilt the distributor. I was initially getting about 23 mpg. Recently, after my car sat without being driven for a couple of weeks I am getting around 10 mpg, the car seems to be missing and surging, sometimes it dies when I turn the steering wheel hard, and is very boggy when I step on the accelerator.
I have installed new plugs and wires and have looked over the ignition system and it all seems to be in good condition. I have even adjusted the timing and it still runs ****ty. I now have to keep the timing advanced just to be able to drive it.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Just curious, you rebuilt your stock distributor, and put in an edelbrock carb right? a non computer controlled carb?
And the distributor is stock, computer controlled right?
I feel bad for you, no one has responded to your post yet, you being a new member and all...
But if you answer yes to the first couple of questions, then your answer is brutally obvious....... (otherwise i'll bust out some concious thought for ya

ah, ok. Just thought i'd make sure that was out of the way first.
what is your timing at now? advanced how much?
i'd guess a carb adjustment is needed... However i'm certainly not the one to ask about an edelbrock carb, I imagine someone with more knowledge can chime in then....
(did you check if all 8cyls are getting spark?)

Pull the top cover off and clean the needles and seats and make sure the floats aren't sticking.
