I need 305 truck vs f body info

Lets say I have a 3/4 ton truck with an original 305 (worn out) and I have a 305 from a camaro at a scrap yard I can have for free. From the factory what are the approx. numbers for torque and HP for each. Both are 1988. How about cam specs? I intend to rebuild the f body engine before installing in the truck. I'm also wondering how much better can I get the 305 to run with cam and exhaust changes? I know the phrase about you can't beat cubic inches but I'd like to work with the 305. The 305 in the truck is a tired old hog and if a rebuilt 305 with a cam and headers will be a fresh hog I won't bother.

There is absolutely no reason to rebuild a 305 vs a 350 even if your not looking for an increase in power.

Agreed. In most cases it is more money to rebuild a 305 than it is a 350.

The truck 305 TBI's were non roller set-ups with some provisions for roller cams. They had different heads and cam as well. They were eqaully as weak, if not weaker, than the LO3. Find a 350 core and put your 305 top end on it if you have to.

OK so I scrap the 305 idea. I have a 454 that is at the machine shop now, bore, hone valve job. What does and doesn't fit if I am removing the 305? Engine mounts? I have the exhaust manifolds and will just run exhaust straight back (no emission checks where I live). I will dump the EFI and put a Holley 750 on it. Will I need to upgrade the radiator? The body and interior of the truck are very good shape so it is worth some effort. I know I should be on a pickup forum but I haven't found one that has the quality that this one does. You guys know engines.

It should easily fit using the stock motor mounts, but don't quote me on that. Anyway you could get those pickups with BBC's so you can find the parts necessary anyway.
