CODE 15 AND CTS

Ok, i got a code 15 and my car dies when i crank her up if i don't give her about 1500 rpm. I know now that code 15 is the CTS. When i bought the car, the temp. gauge didn't work so i replaced it. I had to take the CTS out because the new gauge was mechanical or whatever. So, the 2 wire harness that connects to the original CTS is not connected to n e thing now. Could this be causing my idling problems. It seems like it started soon after i put the new gauge in. Any help needed.

Z28,

The temperature sensor that signals the dash gauge is NOT the same sensor that signals the ECM. The dash instrument sensor should have been located in the head, while the sensor that signals the ECM should be located in the coolant crossover on the intake manifold.

The sensor for the gauge should have dark green wire connected to it. The sensor for the ECM should have a two wire connector with both a yellow and a black wire.

If you installed the mechanical gauge sensor in place of the ECM sensor, you nedd to reinstall the ECM sensor and install the gauge sensor in one of the head openings.
