Need info please
Hello all, hope I'm posting this in the correct place. I need some info please. If not, please redirect to the appropriate place here. Thanks. I have an opportunity to purchase a 1992 RS Camaro with approx 127,000 miles on it. As far as I know, it has had nothing done to it other than regular maintenance, and fixes as needed. No rebuilds to the engine or tranny. It has the 5.0 V8 TBI OHV 16V engine and an auto trans. Body and interior is in good shape. I'd be spending around $2500, maybe a bit less. Anything I should be on the lookout for? Is it way over due for a new tranny and an engine over-haul? Alot of them I've seen have had both done with way less miles. Thank you for any help I can get. This is a great site for 3rd gen info!!!

If it has had regular scheduled maintenance and hasn't been abused, it has a lot of miles left in it before you can expect to need to do anything to the engine or transmission. About the only thing that regularly fails in spite of regular maintenance and lack of abuse are the valve stem seals, which will cause blue smoke at startup (may be cause for emissions failure in some areas) and increased oil consumption. The seals can be replaced without too much hassle or expense.
