what are these small brackets for rear disc brakes

I have thesw small brakets or clips that I got with a bunch of brake parts I bought to rebuild my 4th gen rear and cant figure out what they are or where they go. They are shaped like a capital H but with the legs cut off half way up. They are not that big only about and 1" wide by 1 1/2" tall. the material is very thin . do they hold one of the brake pads on the caliper or what. I have 1 for each side.
