Pickup Coil

Im replacing my pickup coil and im having a hard time removing it from the distributor. I have the distributor pulled out of the car and I popped the pin to remove the gear. When I try to slide the rod in the middle of the distributor out, it get's stuck at about 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the bottom. I've also noticed the pickup coil is set in place by a pin and it doesn't budge at all. What's the secret to removing the coil? Since i've never replaced one before Im not about to go pounding away until im sure what to pound at.

Chris, don't pound away at anything! spray some liquid wrench in there or something. The same thing happened to me, and this worked, it just takes some patience. The dist. shaft tends to get rusty in there after some time.
The pickup coil is held in there by a small clip on top of it. The new coil usually comes W/ a new clip, since it may get destoyed taking it out.

What he said...don't start pounding. Spray a crap load of WD-40 or something similar..let it soak in..and slowly work it out twisting it back and forth.
