Gaskets!!
Hello guys,
Im in the midst of some big upgrades on the 305tpi in my 86 IROC cab.
Im tearing it down to swap heads, cam, runners, plenum etc - so im gonna need pretty much ALL the gaskets.
Where would I get the best there is, and what is it (brand/part# maybe?) ?
Also, will I be able to replace the oil pan gasket without pulling the engine ?
Any help would be very much appreciated!!
Thanks,

Ken

You can get a head gasket kit from a parts store or online somewhere. It should contain every gasket you need to do the heads. Another one you would need is the timing cover set.. this has the timing gaskets and water pump gaskets. You will also need the upper intake gaskets, if you want to replace those. I use Felpro.

Autozone has a fel-pro engine gasket set. They are all good gaskets. It comes with every gasket you should need. If you just buy a head gasket kit, you will also need the timing chain gasket and front oil pan gasket since you are changing cams.

Alright - Thanks!!
Now, will the Fel-Pro engine kit come with the one piece (re-usable) oil pan gasket - and can this one be replaced while the block is still in the car?
Mine needs replacement, and the fact that I have to losen the pan to get the timing cover in probably won't help the leak that is already there.
Thanks again,

Ken

If you get the felpro timing cover set, you will not get the one piece gasket, you will have to cut the old one and use a ton of silicone to seal the new piece that goes at the bottom of the timing cover/top of the oil pan. You do not need to loosen the pan to get the timing cover.
