today i just got the motor ready to come out of the car only thing left is bellhousing bolts and thats about it anyway im preaty sure the bearings are shot thats what was making the knocking. all the valvetrain looks ok taking lfters out tommaro to look at. anyway i dont really want to put any money into this motor since im building the 350 but need to get this one back in soon. i was thinking about a new cam a nice big one but i know it would probly be hard with the tpi. what would be the bigest i could go without changing anything else .

For a 305ci TPI, the LT1 stock cam has gotten good results and they can be had cheap.
EDIT: just saw the part where you're dropping in a 350. LT4-HOT cam is a good choice, minor PROM tuning required to get full wide-open-throttle performance out of it. Excellent street manners especially in a MAF setup like yours, nice mildly lumpy idle.
