when i bought my car a about a year ago everyonce in a while blue smoke would come from the steering column, but only when I would turn continuosly (jink). Is there anything that i could do to correct this, and maybe what would the problem be ??? my car has 116K on it so. check sig .

Got a short or something in there. another car of mine did that once and it was the turn indicator, the whole thing had to be replaced.

You may have a wiring problem in the column, or you may be seeing engine smoke. There is a "seal" at the lower end of the outer column jacket that is essentially a piece of foamed rubber. After about 100K miles and ten years, they can start to look like this:

Hummm I'm not sure if it would be a wiring problem.. I'm pretty sure it's not engine smoke. It's usually in hard corneringor like in parking lots where the wheel would have to be turned left and right... maybe it's that seal I'll check up on it...

could it be the power steering pump??? it does smell like somethins burnin...i know that in our cars when ya overtorque the wheel the steering pump will wine....hummm
