code 24, mech trans speedo...elec. gauge speedo

Okay im getting a code 24 because my VSS is not hooked up. Just had a TKO-600 installed and its a 90 iroc so the speedo is electronic where as the tranny has a mechanical pickup.

Now i thought all i was doing was going oh well no speedo for now until i make up a custom gauge cluster. Well apparently the ECM reads off the VSS pickup, what the heck can i do to get rid of the check engine light and not make my car run like crap? Does anywhere sell a conversion box that would solve all of my problems and let me use the stock speedo with a mechanical driven tranny? i think ive heard of one before that was like 200 bucks or something?

You will need a VSS sender that fit's into the trans mechanical pickup area. On the 700R's you can use either the mechanical drive or an electronic VSS, they both fit into the same drive on the box. EGR is controlled by the VSS signal, hence the SES light. Not familiar with a TKO-600, what tpye of box is it?

well its a ford mechanical pickup.

So how does the EGR and other functions operate on an 87-89 tpi 350 with the mechanical speedo? Ugh i know my car wont run well if the EGR isnt functioning and Vader had mentioned it controls a couple other things like fan cutoff? and something about a fuel cutoff?

we put a electronic speedo in my dads 74 nova, using a kit from covans classics, whole dash and all

but to adapt from mechanical th350 to the electric output they sold him this little deal that uses a short shaft and attaches just like a speedo cable, to the mechanical output i think it was like $70,

thing is it was used with autometer gauges so im not sure if it would work on a factory gauge or not, but may be worth giving them a call, or maybe autometer
