wtf I'm in a cam swap UPS screws me over with not delivering my parts.....anyways the stuff is here finally....and this is the problem....

I'm installing beehive springs and the guy at CC said I'd need the special retainers so I bought them....he said this is all I'd need for the swap...BUT what about the locks?? I pull off a valve spring and go to put on a beehive and the stockers don't fit....I can't find anything in the Summit catalog....this stuff kill me..

You might have wanted to put the part# of the springs and retainers you're using, if this was more than a pity party request.

 

pity party?? ....anyways for anyone else in the future whos gonna use the beehive spring I learned today that there are at least two diff sizes of retainers/locks....stock SB chevys have a 7 degree lock/ret while a performance head like I have (AFR's) came with larger 10 degree lock/ret......time to play the swap game with Summit.....live and learn I guess....

If you wanted anyone to jump in and help, they'd need the part #s of your springs and retainers so they could do some research. Otherwise you were just venting.

Um...the lock angle is dictated only by the retainer. The retainer is dictated by the spring.

The heads themselves have absolutely nothing to do with retainer selection.

 

...yeah I know...I was just saying AFR installed non-stock sized retainers and locks on the heads that I bought off them....the CC tech guys said stay with the 10 degree...its better.....for future ref just realize there are diff sizes of ret/locks...I didn't know this....
