Should the coolant temp idiot light come on when the key is in 'on' position?
Everything else comes on; oil, batt, and check engine, just not the coolant temp light... is it supposed to do that?
It comes on when it's put into the 'start' position however.... it just seemed odd to me that everything but that would come on...

No it should not come on at that time, only in "Start". The oil light comes on then because there's no oil pressure; the alternator light comes on because the alt is not charging; the Check Engine light comes on because there are no pulses from the distributor. However, unless the engine is already overheated (!), the temp light will not come on. So, as a bulb check, the bulb circuit is wired to light the light in "Start".

well i'm sure rb knows way more than me, but i thought all the idiot lights came on as a test, KOEO, to show the driver that they work and would work when they were needed to.
