when i drive my car the rpm goes up to 2700rpm and it does not shift until i give it more gas and it goes up to 3000rpm and then it shifts hard.this just happens in 1st and 2nd gears and its a 700r4 trans. whats wrong ?

 

sounds like your tv cable is not adjusted properly if your car is a tpi it is located in the drivers side together with the throtle linkage
to adjust it you need to find the tensioner it is a D shaped buton right behind the small cable thats the tv cable yud need to depres the buton and move the throtle linkage to WOT while keeping the button depresed and then release the button then the throtle linkage and your tv cable shoud be properly adjusted
